Dan Francis and his Geology 428 (Igneous and Metamorphic Petrography) students enjoying a
spectacular display of schlieren and cross-cutting dikes in a quarry near Ramona,
San Diego County. This exposure of granitic rocks is part of the Southern
California batholith, one of the major batholithic terranes exposed in California.
